The Filipino youth today are building their future not just by studying hard, reaping good grades and developing their talents and skills. They are also building their future by planting trees. This was the creed of more than 30 volunteers who represented various schools and organizations during the Project G! Tree-Planting in Plaridel, Bulacan held last October 13. IE Phoenix Soars to Bronze in the Engineering Cup 2013

The Industrial Engineering Department varsity landed a spot on the final podium behind the Civil Engineering and MMM departments after over two months of sports and games in this year’s edition of the Engineering Cup. Good Karma

Good Karma is change in five colors. Since 2012, its mandate has been to raise funds and provide publicity for non-profit organizations in the Philippines by selling shirts of different colors. Red shirts raise funds for the medication of poor, ailing children. Green shirts support the country’s reforestation. Blue shirts fund the conservation of marine resources. White shirts support the education of underprivileged scholars, and black shirts provide cheap, clean sources of light to far-flung communities. Lorenzo takes Helm as New IE Department Chair

Times change and the new academic year 2013-2014 marks the beginning of a new leadership at the Industrial Engineering (IE) Department of the College of Engineering. Three years after Dr. Iris Ann Martinez took charge of the Industrial Engineering Department, a successor has been named to take over from where she left off. IE Reps kick off iLEARN with Excel seminar

Students trooped to the IE Comp Lab on July 24 to learn about various functions of Microsoft Excel as the IE Representatives kicked off the first of their iLEARN Seminar Series project. Aiming to initially teach the basics of Excel, Sir Pijo Julongbayan graced the event as the resource speaker. Sir Janni Boydon also shared his knowledge to the attendees when he was spontaneously asked to speak. Since 2001, the UP College Admissions and Mastery Program (UPCAMP), one of the most anticipated events by the UP Industrial Engineering Club, has served as a haven of learning for senior high school students in preparing them for UPCAT and other college entrance tests. IESC Launches Its Awareness Campaign

The IESC, under the direction of the IE Representatives initiated the IE Awareness Campaign early last June with the tagline “Be IEnformed”. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness about Industrial Engineering and to let the public be informed about what Industrial Engineering is. The campaign operates by disseminating publicity materials and infographics to the IE community and to the public via Facebook and the Facebook page “Everything Industrial Engineering”.
