The University of the Philippines Diliman IE-OR team completes a four-peat, winning the championship in the recently-held Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE) National Students IE Quiz Contest held last February 18, 2012 at the Le Pavillion Metropolitan Park in Pasay City. 24 teams from universities and colleges nationwide competed for the championship. The University of the Philippines Diliman IE-OR quiz team bagged the championship in the recently held Operations Research Society of the Philippines (ORSP) OR National Quiz contest held last February 4, 2012 at the Abelardo Hall in UP Diliman. This year’s first place finish marks the 3rd consecutive year UP Diliman finishes the contest as champions. Perennial contenders De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University copped the second and third places respectively. Students of the Department win first place in the ASEAN Industrial Engineering Competition (IECOM 2012) held in Bandung, Indonesia last January. The team was composed of fifth year students Paolo Cacnio, Rhio Santos and Mico Cariño, and fourth year student Andrew Yap. They were coached by Department instructor Clario Arriola III.Read more …
