Dear UP IEORD Faculty, Students, and Friends,
We are nearing towards the end of the current Academic Year and we are going to send off our new IE graduates this July. Most of our graduates are from the BS IE degree while several will also graduate from the Master’s program. The IE Department is truly proud of everyone for completing your respective degrees! May we see you again at the IE Department! Congratulations!
This month we shall also welcome new members of the IE Department, nour new students – BS IE FreshIEs as well as new grad students. We will be having separate orientation events for the undergraduate program and the graduate program. Stay tuned!

Our Team Wins 3rd Place at PIIE-NSC Inter-university Academic Quiz Competition
Our 3rd and 4th-Year students placed 3rd at the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers – National Student Chapter (PIIE-NSC) Inter-University Quiz held on 29th of June 2024. The 4th Year students of the team were Paul Rainer De Villa, Nazka Leosala, and Steven Jon Milay, who were joined by 3rd Year student Ariel Robert Jr. Hermoso. Instructors Jason Fernandez and Cylene Sabio coached the team. We are proud of you!
Second Batch of IEORD MerchandIEse to Arrive on the
2nd Week of July 2024
The 2nd Batch of IEORD MerchandIEse offered to students, alumni, and friends, which include shirts, jackets, notebooks, stickers, and lanyards, is expected to arrive and be distributed in the second week of July 2024. The IEORD MerchandIEse is project of the IEORD, in partnership with the ALLIES 2023-2024.
BOR-approved Academic Calendar for AY 2024-2025 Released
The Academic Calendar for AY 2024-2025 was approved by the UP Board of Regents and released on 21st of June 2024. Based on the calendar, the start of classes will be on 20th August 2024, with the registration period from 14 to 16th of August 2024. There will be no more reading breaks for the coming academic year.
BOR-approved Academic Calendar for AY 2024-2025 Released
The UP Diliman Supply and Property Management Office hosted a face-to-face workshop on “Forecasting, Inventory Management, and Preparation of the Annual Procurement Plan – Common Use Supplies and Equipment (APP-CSE)” which was led by our Supply Chain and Analytics Laboratory co-head, Prof. Iris Ann Martinez, Ph.D. The workshop which gathered about 200 participants onsite and other participants in the FB live, was held on 27th of June 2024.

Congratulations to:
– Instructor Cylene Sabio participated in a 2-week long immersion program at the 2024 Shanghai Open University Immersion Hub Short Term International Students Program last June 23, 2024 to July 7, 2024.
– Retired IEORD Professor Fortunato T. De La Peña, LL.D (honoris causa), D. Tech (honoris causa) for being elected as a member of the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). His investiture as Academician will be on 11th of July 2024.
Upcoming Activities
Please participate in our upcoming activities:
– We ask everyone who is part of our IE Department community to please support our newest program, “Kaizen: Blitzing Your IE Career“, a video podcast made by IEs, for IEs, and for those aspiring to become IEs.
– The FreshIE (New 1st-Years, BS IE) orientation shall be held on July 15, 2024 at 9:00am to 12:00pm, hybrid via Zoom and Engineering Theater. Regular students are also encourages to attend as this will also serve as a general assembly for the incoming 1st Semester AY2024-2025.
