The Information Systems Design, Education, and Applications (IDEA) Lab focuses on the development of human-centered information systems that empower learning, decision-making, and digital transformation across various domains such as education, governance, and small enterprises. The lab conducts research in relational database design, data warehousing, and data engineering to support robust and scalable system architectures. It also explores the integration of AI and user experience (UX) design to build intelligent, adaptive, and ethical digital platforms. IDEA Lab aims to bridge the gap between technical systems design and real-world usability, ensuring that innovations are inclusive, practical, and impactful.

Mission
The IDEA Lab is committed to advancing the science and implementation of information systems design through interdisciplinary research in data modeling, data engineering, AI integration, and user-centered methodologies. We aim to develop ethical, scalable, and adaptive digital platforms that support decision-making, learning, and service delivery in education, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and governance. - Design, test, and evaluate IS models that support learning, organizational decision-making, and innovation in various sectors
Human-centered Information Systems Design
- Utilize user-centered design methodologies to build intuitive, scalable, and adaptive information systems.
Advanced Data Modelling and Decision Support Systems
- Design and build advanced data models (e.g., dimensional model, no SQL methodologies) for information systems supporting performance monitoring, citizen services, and SME operations.
Data Engineering for Digital Services
- Develop data pipelines for data integration, API-based systems, and cloud-native IS platforms.
Digital Transformation in SMEs and the Public Sector
- Develop decision support and workflow systems tailored for digital transformation in education, industry, healthcare, and governance.
