About DIEOR

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (DIEOR) at the College of Engineering, University of the Philippines Diliman was officially established as a department in 1971. The DIEOR currently offers four degree programs: the Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), Master of Engineering (MEng), and the newly launched Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Industrial Engineering.

Approved by the Board of Regents in late 2023, the PhD program introduces three distinct tracks—Straight MS-PhD, Regular PhD, and PhD by Research—each with tailored admission requirements. Both the MS and MEng degrees cover specialization tracks namely Production Systems, Operations Research, Human Factors & Ergonomics, and Analytics Systems Engineering. The undergraduate program focuses on instilling the ideal and expected BS IE graduate with emphasis on industry-based training and immersion.

In early 2024, the BS Industrial Engineering program underwent a comprehensive evaluation by the Philippine Technological Council-Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET), seeking Washington Accord recognition for its graduates. DIEOR faculty and researchers also apply their expertise to interdisciplinary fields such as Transportation Engineering, Energy Engineering, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence, furthering the department’s impact across emerging and critical sectors.

Our mission is to become the regional and national leader in providing world-class industrial engineering education, research and development toward continuous improvement in productivity, quality and robustness in manufacturing and services.
