Kaizen Innovation and Makerspace

The Kaizen and Innovation Makerspace serves as the central hub for advancing research, public service, innovation expertise and networking of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research in the areas of Total Quality Management, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen and Operational Excellence.

To be a leader in advancing collaborative research, fostering innovation, and delivering elegant solutions to complex challenges in quality engineering and related disciplines.
Mission
We aim to cultivate an environment that empowers students, faculty, private sector and government partners to collaboratively advance excellence in quality engineering and related disciplines through innovative research and solutions.
Research Agenda
•Kaizen Improvement for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Focus on how MSMEs can benefit from Kaizen improvement initiatives to improve their productivity and quality.
•Operational Excellence in the Public Healthcare Industry. Application of the Operational Excellence Framework involving Strategy Development, Performance Management, Process Excellence, High-Performing Teams and Change Management Initiatives to improve public healthcare systems.
•Reliability Engineering in the Physical Asset Management. Application of Reliability Engineering in the management and maintenance of physical assets in various industries (e.g. fleet management, power plants etc)
•Customer Experience (CX) and Customer Satisfaction Measurement. Quantifying CX and satisfaction levels of customers and understanding its effects on service quality improvements and on brand loyalty among others.
•Lean Six Sigma Applications in the Public Sector. Opportunities for improving public services through Lean and DMAIC problem solving framework.
•Use and Development of Green LSS to support the Circular Economy transition (i.e. environment). Application can also be extended to energy to adapt to current trends.
