FreshIE Orientation for 1st Sem AY 2026 – 2027
The BS Industrial Engineering program at UP Diliman held its FreshIE Orientation online on June 27, 2026. Incoming first-year students attended the session from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon to be formally welcomed and introduced to the program.
We look forward to seeing more of you, FreshIEs, in the coming months as you begin your journey with UP IEOR.

UPD Quiz Bee Team wins 2nd Place at Nationals
The UP Diliman Inter-University Quiz Bee Team, composed of Hugh Ruzle E. Mejos, Ameer Jibran M. Fernandez, Vanessa Ryanne G. Julio and Shawn Garrett O. Yuen, clinched 2nd place at the PIIE-NSC National Academic Competetion 2026 held on June 6 at De La Salle University Manila. Guided by Instructors Cylene J. Sabio and Mark Jay O. Sedan, the team proudly represented UP IEOR in a rigorous and challenging contest.

UPD IEOR and Architecture Host Cambodian University Delegation
On June 16, 2026, the UP Diliman Department of Industrial Engineering, together with the College of Architecture, welcome representatives from Paragon International University of Cambodia at the IE/ME Building. The meeting focused on emerging educational trends and strategic partnerships to advance higher education and create opportunities for students and faculty.
We look forward to building on this collaboration in the months ahead.

ORSP Workshop on Simulation & Optimization Software Co-Presented by UPD IEOR and UPLD DOIE
The Operations Research Society of the Philippines (ORSP) held the Simulation & Optimization Software (SOS Training) as its 2026 Technical Workshop, co-presented by the UP Diliman IEOR Department and the UPLB Department of Industrial Engineering.
The event, held on June 19, 2026, at the UPD IEOR Kaizen Laboratory, gathered academics and professionals to exchange insights and strengthen collaboration.
UPD IEOR hosts Fit and Focused Session 2
The Industrial Engineering and Operations Research Department held the second installment of Fit and Focused: Enhancing Work-Life Balance through Wellness and Learning on May 21, 2026, at the IE/ME Gym (yes, we have this area on the 2nd floor of the IE/ME Building). Members of the UP Community joined the session and learned practical tips on working out and wellness from the guest facilitator.

Santos for publishing their paper, “Faculty-Course Assignment Under Faculty Preferences and Institutional Policies Using Priority-Weighte Multi-Objective MILP: A Case Study in a Philippine University,” in the June 2026 issue of the Philippine Engineering Journal
The IE FamilIE recognizes Professor and former Dean Ma. Aura Teodora C. Matias and Professor Virginia Soriano, who were honored during Pagpupugay sa Mga Retirado for their dedicated service to the University — 43 years and 36 years, respectively.
